Transition to the new CodeMark Australia Scheme is underway

Existing CodeMark Certification Bodies have a prescribed period within which to be accredited to the new Scheme Rules if they wish to continue to issue CodeMark certificates. Certificates issued under the new scheme will be identifiable by different branding, including the use of the new CodeMark Australia logo. CodeMark certificates issued under the previous scheme remain valid unless they expire, are withdrawn or are superseded.

CodeMark Australia is a voluntary third-party building product certification scheme owned by the Commonwealth of Australia acting on behalf of the Commonwealth and all States and Territories. It supports the use of new or innovative building products in specific circumstances in Australia by providing a nationally accepted process for demonstrating compliance with the requirements of Volume One and Two of the NCC, also known as the Building Code of Australia or BCA.

Certificates of Conformity issued under the CodeMark Australia scheme by accredited Certification Bodies are one of several ways of meeting the ‘evidence of suitability’ requirements of the BCA.

The advantage of using CodeMark certified product is State and Territory building control legislation requires building control authorities to accept CodeMark Australia certified products as evidence of compliance with the BCA so long as the product is used as specified on the certificate.
